Querida familia FashionTopic

Tiene mucho que no platicamos a fondo y quisiera tomarme un par de líneas y minutos para hacerlo.

Hace unas semanas les contaba como me sentía con respecto a mi situación y planes en México. Como saben, llevo ya más de 5 años viviendo en Nueva York gracias a una visa de trabajo que en este momento se encuentra en trámite. Recibí mucho cariño, ánimo y apoyo por parte de muchos de ustedes y eso, ¡SE LOS AGRADEZCO DE CORAZÓN!

DEAR Fashion Topic FAMILY

IT’S BEEN A WHILE SINCE THE LAST TIME WE TALKED AND I WANNA TAKE A COUPLE MINUTES TO DO IT…

A few weeks ago I shared with y’all about how I felt with my situation and plans in Mexico. As you know I’ve been living in New York for more than five years, under a work visa, which is getting renewed at this time. I received a lot of love, support and cheering words from you and I CAN’T THANK YOU ENOUGH!

Tristemente, somos nosotros mismos como mexicanos los que dudamos de nuestro país. Es incontable la cantidad de comentarios de duda e incluso negativos que recibí al platicar que me mudaba a México. Y curioso fue que hubo un momento justo al inicio de mis días aquí y con el cambio de ritmo de vida, que las dudas invadieron mi mente y comencé a creérmelas.

Sin embargo está en cada uno de nosotros decidir escuchar las voces correctas. Yo escuché la mía desde hace meses atrás y decidí que sí a México por razones personales (entre ellas: la boda de mi hermana,  disfrutar a mi familia y amigos con quienes no convivo tanto por estar en NY), pero sobre todo profesionales.

Sadly, we as mexicans are the ones that often doubt about our country. Countless times I’ve heard doubtful or negative comments when I told people I was going back to Mexico. And the funny thing was that just at the beginning of my days here, I started to believe in those negative comments.

However, it’s on us to learn who we listen and choose to the hear right voices. So I decided to go for my own voice months ago and to say yes to Mexico, for personal reasons, (among them: my sister’s wedding, enjoying my family and friends, whom I don’t get to see that often, because of my life in New York) but mostly, professional reasons

Descubrí en este nuevo camino, que México NO ES un lugar sin oportunidades laborales y que aquí, las oportunidades SE CREAN. Porfinnnnn me di el tiempo de echar a andar un proyecto al cual le traía muchas ganas que es el EBSworkshop, donde comparto mis conocimientos en estrategia de marca online con emprendedores y diversas marcas.

Además empiezo la grabación de una serie de Netflix lo cual me tiene ¡EMOCIONADÍSIMA! E incluso he potencializado este espacio y comunidad llamada FashionTopic.

I discovered in this new road that Mexico isn’t a place without job opportunities. Here you create your own opportunities. And I finally give myself sometime to started a project that had been on my mind for a long time, the EBSworkshop, where I share my knowledge about online brand strategy with different entrepreneurs.

I’m also getting my set life back with a new Netflix show, that will be shoot around Mexico and which has me beyond excited!!! And I’ve been more focused on the blog and my whole Fashion Topic community.

¿A qué voy con esto?

A que cuando decidí tomar el riesgo de regresar a mi país sin saber, incluso hasta ahora, cual será la decisión final de mi visa, también tomaba muchas oportunidades en este nuevo camino.

But… What’s my point?

When I decided to take the risk and go back to my country without knowing, even to this day, what would be the decision for my work visa, I was also taking lot’s of new opportunities on this new road.

Este tiempo aquí me ha recordado que México es más que tacos y mariachi. Es innovación y emprendimiento. Inversión y visión. Pero sobretodo liderazgo. México es ejemplo de trabajo, de orgullo, perseverancia, creatividad y talento. México esta ganando Oscares, creando series igual de bien hechas que muchas extranjeras, jugando en equipos internacionales y caminando en pasarelas alrededor del mundo.  Vivimos en una sociedad de negativismo y de poca responsabilidad a hacer algo ante el, pero cuando veo lo que otros mexicanos están logrando, me pregunto ¿y cómo estoy aportando yo?

He encontrado aquí gente apasionada por lo que hace y empresas internacionales que abrirán oficialmente sucursales por que nos ven como el FUTURO. 

Time here has reminded me that Mexico is more than good tacos and mariachi. It’s innovation, entrepreneurship, investment and vision. But above all, it’s leadership. Mexico is the perfect example of hard work, pride, perseverance, creativity and talent. Mexico is winning oscars, creating original series, playing on international teams and walking on runway shows all around the world. We live on a society where negativism and lack of responsibility, but when I see all that other mexicans are achieving, I always ask myself:

What I’m I giving as a Mexican?

I’ve found passionate people here, that love what they do and do it with passion and also international companies that are starting to focus on Mexico, because they see it as the future.

¿Qué si hay adversidades, baches y dificultades? CLARO, ¡pero esas las hay en todas partes! Entonces, ¿por qué no superarlas aquí?

Si llegaste hasta estas líneas sólo quiero recordarte que basta con un pensamiento, ya sea positivo o negativo, para cambiar tu perspectiva. México era muchas cosas cuando lo dejé, pero ahora que vuelvo, este país tiene tanto para ofrecerme (y ofrecerte) si de verdad nos ponemos las pilas para aprovecharlo.

Is there adversity and difficulties down this road? SURE! but you will find those everywhere. So… why not overcome them here at home?

If you make it to this lines, I just want to remind you that one thought is enough, positive or negative, to change your perspective. Mexico was a lot of things when I left, but now that I’m back, this country has a lot to offer me (and you). We just need to be ready and take it.
