Seamos sinceros, ¿quién no ama un fin de semana de relax en un lugar mágico?

Como les platiqué en mis redes sociales, visité hace un par de meses San Miguel de Allende, el cual, se ha convertido en uno de mis spots mexicanos favoritos (oseaaaa, imposible no amar San Mike hahaha…)

Muchos de ustedes me han preguntado algunas recomendaciones, así que quiero compartirles mis must de este destino turístico para que como yo, disfruten de todo lo que San Miguel tiene para ofrecer… Ahí les va:

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a relaxing weekend in a magical place?

As I told you on my social media accounts, i visited San Miguel de Allende a couple months ago, which definitely has become one of my favorite mexican spots! (I mean, it’s impossible to not love this place) 

Many of you asked me for my recommendations, so I want to share with y’all my “must-visit” of this amazing destination, so you can enjoy it as much as I did, sooooooo here I go…

Hospedaje

 San Miguel es un destino que te invita a vivir la experiencia de un hotel boutique. Mi favorito hasta ahora ha sido el Hotel Casa Oratorio. Es pequeño e íntimo y además muy bien ubicado, cerca del centro. Su terraza e instalaciones son de ensueño. Mi familia y yo nos hospedamos en una suite que contó con un baño de estilo muy mexicano, area de cocina e incluso balcón. Ideal para los enamorados o si vas en pareja/grupo de amigos.

Nota: El hotel cuenta con desayuno incluido, sin embargo, este es fuera de las instalaciones. Además no cuenta con estacionamiento, así que si llevas en coche, te tocará buscar uno por tu cuenta. 

Precio: $2,000-3,000 la noche

Housing

 San Miguel it’s an invitation to stay on a hotel boutique. My favorite so far is the Hotel Casa Oratorio. It’s intimate and the location is great, near the principal attractions of the city. The rooftop and facilities are super dreamy. My family and I stayed on a suite that had one bathroom, decorated with an amazing mexican style, kitchen area and even a balcony. Ideal for couples or to take your favorite group of friends.

NOTE: The hotel is breakfast included, however, the meal is served on another restaurant which means you have to walk for it. It doesn’t have parking, so if you’re traveling with your car, you’ll have to look for your own parking spot.

Price: $100 dlls per night aprox

Comida

En San Miguel hay presupuestos de todo, desde lo más casual hasta cocina de autor, sin embargo los imperdibles para mi son los siguientes:

Los que buscan comida mexicana y de ambiente familiar, te recomiendo: Pueblo Viejo, tienen opciones para todos y el servicio es muy rápido.

Si quieres algo más casual tipo bar/restaurante, el Bar SMA es la opción con un toque especial de la casa en cada platillo y una vibra más de amigos.

Si te quedó el antojo de un postre, el MUST-TRY son los famosos churros de Margarita Gralia. ¡DELICIOSOS! Seguro encontrarás una fila afuera de su restaurante, pero esta es únicamente para aquellos que buscan mesa, yo te recomiendo simplemente comprar el churro y pedirlo para llevar. Aprovechas recorrer las calles mientras disfrutas del postre.

Finalmente si te gustan las experiencias de autor y quieres consentirte con una buena cena, un lugar imperdible es el Café Casa Blanca. Las instalaciones y el servicio es impecable.

Food

On San Miguel possibilities for food are endless, from a super casual dinner, to authentic author’s kitchen, however here are my must try:

For the one’s looking for good Mexican food and a familiar ambiance, I recommend: Pueblo Viejo, they have lot’s of options and the service it’s super fast.

If you want something more casual, kind of like a bar/restaurant, Bar SMA is the place for you, with a special Mexican touch on every dish and a super friendly vibe.

And if you’re still up for dessert, a MUST - TRY are the famous churros by Margarita Gralia. Simply delicious. I’m sure you’re going to find a looooooong line waiting outside, but this is only if you’re looking for a table. My recommendation is to take your churro to go and enjoying it while you walk around the amazing streets of San Miguel.

Finally if you like author’s kitchen and you want to pamper yourself with an excellent dinner, a must try will be Café Casa Blanca. The facilities and service are just amazing.

Cultura y Atracciones 

Me encantó el Museo Histórico de San Miguel de Allende. En cada cuarto recrean la vida de quienes habitaron la casona (entre ellos Allende uno de los líderes del movimiento de independencia) y te relatan la historia durante esta época en México.

Imperdible: la Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel. Es la más famosa del lugar y justo por eso te recomiendo visitarla, o muy temprano o ya noche, para evitar multitudes.

Si te gusta el shopping local y mexicano, tienes que visitar el Mercado de Artesanías, tienen artículos de todo, desde decoración hasta accesorios para mujeres y hombres. Ahora que si buscas diseño de autor, existen muchas galerías donde puedes encontrar objetos interesantes. Lo que si te puedo decir es que San Miguel no es un destino económico y por ende hay que evitar las compras compulsivas. Si encuentras algo que sabes no podrás vivir sin eso, ¡LLÉVATELO!

Mi familia y yo hicimos el tour de leyendas por la noche (nosotros somos fan de esta actividad y la hemos hecho en distintos estados de la República) sin embargo no nos encantó por que sentimos que las historias no eran muy buenas. Este lo dejo a tu elección… 

Culture and Attractions

I loved the Museo Histórico de San Miguel de Allende. On each room they recreate the life of the people that once lived in this house. (Among them, Allende, one of the leaders of the Independence movement in Mexico)

Must see: la Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel. It’s the star of this place, that’s why I recommend to visit this one, either pretty early in the morning or at night, so you can avoid the crowd.

If you’re into local shopping, you have to visit the Mercado de Artesanías, they have every type of articles, from decoration to accesorios for women and men. Now if you’re looking for author’s design, there are a lot of galleries around, where you can find interesting objects. However keep in mind, San Miguel isn’t an affordable destination for shopping, so avoid impulsive purchases. But if you find that unique piece that you love, take it home!

My family and I also took the Legends Tour at night, we love this activity and have done it on many other cities around Mexico, however this wasn’t our favorite, the stories just weren’t that good. I leave this one by your choice.

Lo que me encanta de San Miguel es que, como destino de vanguardia, no pierde esa esencia mexicana única.

Espero que estos consejos te ayuden en tu próxima visita a este lugar mágico. Para mí, mientras más lo visito, más me enamoro.
