¡Seguimos con esta serie de mi road trip familiar por México! Es increíble todo lo que mi país tiene para dar y especialmente en el sector del turismo.

Después de terminar nuestra estadía en Guanajuato, saltamos al coche en dirección a nuestro nuevo destino: Aguascalientes.

AFTER VISITING GUANAJUATO, WE JUMPED BACK INTO THE CAR TO VISIT OUR NEXT STOP: AGUASCALIENTES.

Me creerán que cuando busque información turística de este estado, encontré muy poco… Incluso preguntando con amigos, pocos habían visitado esta ciudad. Perooooo, ese no fue impedimento para que mi familia y yo disfrutáramos de lo mejor que tiene para dar.

De inicio, lo que tienes que saber de Aguascalientes es que es un estado seguro y pequeño. Su gente es muy amigable y sus calles son extremadamente limpias.

Can you believe that when I first started looking for information about this destination I couldn’t found much, even when I asked to some friends that had been here before, however that didn’t stopped me and my family and we enjoyed the must-visit this place has to offer.

Aguascalientes is a safe and little place, the locals are super friendly and the streets are incredibly clean.

Hospedaje

Viajar en familia siempre conlleva a balancear las comodidades de todos. Dicho esto, reservé una habitación en el Hotel Real Plaza Aguascalientes. LA MEJOR DECISIÓN PARA ESTE DESTINO. El hotel cuenta con excelentes instalaciones e incluso un rooftop donde puedes apreciar toda la ciudad y disfrutar de la alberca. El cuarto amplio y muy limpio, además la ubicación muy acertada y cerca de los puntos principales a visitar. ¡Regresaríamos sin pensarlo!

So… here are my recommendations for this beautiful city:

HOUSING

Traveling with family means you need to find something that suits every member, saying that, I booked a room at the Hotel Plaza Real Aguascalientes, BEST DECISION EVER! This hotel has amazing facilities and even a rooftop where you can enjoy the city and have a great time by the pool. The room was spacious, clean and the location couldn’t been better. We will definitely stay here again!

Comida

Para un desayuno, neta NO TE PUEDES PERDER ES: La Mestiza. Yo probé el desayuno y tienen unas conchas DELICIOSAS (sólo de recordar se me hace agua la boca hahahaha) además sus instalaciones son lindísimas y tienen un patio de decoración mexicana súper instagrameable. En este lugar encontrarás gente esperando por una mesa, así que llega con tiempo. Los precios son accesibles y los platillos variados. Al salir tienen una pared icónica de la ciudad, donde no pude resistirme a tomarme una foto, así como un pequeño parque lindísimo y muy tranquilo como para tomarte un cafecito ahí.

FOOD

For breakfast you can’t miss: La Mestiza. They have amazing bread (It makes me want to go back, just by the thought of it) besides, the place is super cute and they have a backyard where the decoration is ideally for your instagram feed. On this place you’ll find a line to get in… so be there earlier. At the exit they have an iconic wall, where you will need to take a photo. There’s also a little park, where you could enjoy a coffee and walk around.

Si buscas comida rica y servicio rápido, Las Antorchas es la opción, aparte de que sus platillos son bastos y ricos, puedes llegar caminando desde el centro. 

Si traes antojo de postre, una marquesita de Crokas mientras paseas por el zócalo es la opción. Y si eres amante del café y fan de StarWars, Estar con Café debe estar SI O SI en tu itinerario. El café es muy pequeño e íntimo, tienen un té chai que te mueres y sobre todo una colección de objetos de esta saga, que si eres amante de las películas te sorprenderás. Visítalo, de verdad que te vas a ir con una gran experiencia para contar.

If you're looking for delicious food and quick service, Las Antorchas is the place to go, the food is great and you can get there by walking from downtown.

If you’re in the mood for dessert, a marquesita (which is a hard crepe as a taco shape) from the Crokas, will be your best option. And if you’re a big Star Wars’ fan, Estar con Café needs to be on your itinerary. This place is little, intimate and their chai tea is to die for, plus their star wars collection is a must see, the experience it’s one of a kind.

Cultura y Atracciones

En nuestra primera noche, mi familia y yo decidimos tomar el tour de Leyendas ($100 MXN aprox). Como ya les había platicado nosotros somos amantes de esta experiencia y en esta ciudad no nos defraudaron. El tour dura 1:30 hrs y sólo se da por la noche. Los actores te llevan a distintas casonas y calles del centro de la ciudad, donde te relatan historias tanto cómicas como de intriga y finalizas en el Museo del Juguete Tradicional Mexicano, con un recorrido exclusivo a los integrantes del tour. 100% recomendable.

Culture and attractions

On our first night, my family and I decided to take the Legend’s Tour ($5 dlls). As I told you before, we are avid fans of this activity, and on this city they meet our expectations. The tour is approximately one and a half hour, and you can only take it at night. The actors take you to different historical places in downtown, where they tell stories, either funny or thrilling, and then it finish at the Museo del Juguete Tradicional Mexicano where you can find all those iconic Mexican toys that older generations used to love plus an exclusive tour around it, this is definitely a must!!!!

Nuestro segundo día, fue mucho más cultural visitando el Museo Nacional de La Muerte ($20 MXN por persona) , con exposiciones temporales y permanentes de en su mayoría artistas locales y mexicanos. También recorrimos el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo que aunque es pequeño tiene muy buena curaduría. Ambos ideales para aprovechar la mañana.

Caminar por la Plaza de la Patria y sus alrededores formará parte de tu recorrido SI O SI, ya que es el punto céntrico de la ciudad, así encontramos el Templo de San Antonio que si te gusta la arquitectura es un MUST-SEE.

Our second day was much more cultural, we visited the Museo Nacional de La Muerte (1 dll) with temporal and permanent exhibits, mostly by local artists. We also visited the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo that even though it is pretty little is well curated. Both ideal to enjoy the morning.

Walking around the Plaza de la Patria and it’s surroundings needs to be on your tour. This is the center of the city, and that’s how we found the Templo de San Antonio, if you’re into architecture, you can’t miss this one!

Como nuestra estancia fue de un par de días y para aprovechar el tiempo, decidimos tomar el tranvía que dura alrededor de 1:30hrs y te lleva a recorrer los puntos principales que no se encuentran en recorrido a pie en el centro; como: la Plaza de las Tres Centurias donde de lejos puedes apreciar el famoso Cristo Roto. Si llevas poco tiempo en tu agenda, conviene para darte un panorama general de la ciudad.

En general caminar por las calles de esta ciudad te relaja y enamora, aunque vayas pocos días, te recomiendo darte un tiempo para disfrutar de su vida local.

We stayed here a couple of days and to enjoy our time, we decided to take the travia, aprox one and a half hour, and takes you to visit the most visited spots of the city, among them: La Plaza de las Tres Centurias, where from far you can appreciate the famous Cristo Roto mountain. If your time here is limited, this tour will give you a complete picture of the city.

Walking around Aguascalientes is relaxing and makes you fall in love with it, even if your time here is short, I recommend you bring the spirit to live it like a local.
