Once you lived in NY...
Cuando decidí venirme a Nueva York, la emoción de una nueva aventura era lo que más me llenaba en ese momento de mi vida. Durante este tiempo, hace casi dos años, esta ciudad se ha convertido en un gran maestro, en todo el sentido de la palabra. Hace poco, recordaba lo que sentí mientras veía por primera vez la ciudad desde el avión. Eran emociones difíciles de describir. Era alegría, incertidumbre por lo desconocido pero también certeza de que todo estaría bien, era nostalgia por dejar la comodidad, pero adrenalina por iniciar de cero. Era querer comerme al mundo en un segundo, pero también buscar disfrutar cada instante al máximo.
Seguro, si has viajado por tu cuenta, sabrás un poquito de lo que te hablo. Y si no, ¡hazlo! Es una experiencia única que sólo puedes vivir cuando emprendes un viaje contigo y te lanzas a la aventura.
Recuerdo que los primeros días que camine por las calles de esta ciudad, cada detalle me inspiraba. La gente, los colores, la comida, los lugares, el bello caos que existe aquí. ¡TODO! Cada día era un aprendizaje inmenso. Y ahora, después de un largo camino, descubro que me ha hecho conocerme y conocer. Lo que en ningún otro lugar podría haber pasado, de eso estoy muy segura.
Así que hoy, me atrevo a decir que hay ciertas cosas, que sólo en Nueva York puedes vivir. Aspectos que solamente esta ciudad te va a permitir conocer de ti. Pero creo que lo más importante: cosas que solamente Nueva York va a lograr cambiar en ti. A pesar de que dicen que la gente no cambia, yo creo que sí, muchos cambiamos, para mejorar o simplemente para iniciar.
Hoy, quiero compartirles esos secretos y experiencias que sólo los que hemos pasado por esta ciudad conocemos de cerca….
1.- Blair Waldorf decía: "I love New York, you're never alone, but you're always by your own." Y es cierto. Nueva York hará que te conozcas a la perfección, por que pasas tanto tiempo contigo, que después de un buen rato aquí, sabrás que sí y que no queda en tu vida.
2.- "A bad day in NYC is still better that a good day anywhere else." Cuando llegué, recuerdo que un día mientras iba en el subway, vi a una chica llorar y pensé: "seguro tiene un MUY mal día, ¿pero cómo puede ser posible eso aquí en Nueva York?"... Meses después yo era la niña del tren. La verdad es que por más difícil que sea la situación que estés viviendo en ese momento, al final, todos los que estamos y seguimos aquí, es por que tenemos un carácter fuerte. Lo que me lleva al siguiente punto...
3.- Sólo en Nueva York vas a vivir tus sentimientos al máximo. Ya sea que tengas la felicidad más grande o un mal día, cada sentimiento que pase por ti, lo vas a sentir tan claro y fuerte que será un gran maestro para lo que viene.
4.- "Cada día es un nuevo comienzo." Por más que quieras tener una rutina, créeme que un día por las calles de Nueva York será impredecible y lleno de sorpresas, que al regresar a casa, te ríes de las cosas tan locas que llegas a ver.
5.- "Nueva York te encontrará con tu máximo potencial." La ciudad que nunca duerme hará que cada día salgas de tu zona de confort. Por ende que sepas y conozcas bien aquellas fortalezas que te hacen único y que las trabajes para ser la mejor versión de ti. Lo que me lleva a…
6.- "Sólo Nueva York ofrece un mundo entero de posibilidades" y por eso esta ciudad jamás te dirá que no a cualquier sueño que tengas, por más loco que este sea. La clave está en saber cual es la meta a cumplir y tendrás mil y un oportunidades de lograr lo que te propongas.
7.- "Every sacrifice is worth it" La verdad es que viviendo en Nueva York uno siempre hace cierto tipo de sacrificio. Cambiar tu hogar en familia por vivir solo, gastar tu dinero en renta en lugar de ropa o un viaje, dejar tus noches de viernes con tus amigos por trabajo o cualquiera que sea el truequé en el que estés involucrado, todo al final valdrá la pena cuando te das cuenta que en esta ciudad vives tu sueños.
8.- "La inspiración está en el aire." Aquí decimos que quien se aburre en Nueva York es porque quiere. Sea lo que sea que te apasione o a lo que te dediques, Nueva York siempre tendrá inspiración de sobra. Sólo es cuestión de que abras bien tu mente y ojos.
Bien cierta es la frase: "Once you lived in NY and made it your home, no place else is good enough…"

When I decided to move to New York, the adrenaline of a new adventure, was the most important thing at that moment of my life. During this time, almost two years ago, New York has become a huge teacher. Recently I remembered how I felt when I saw the city for the first time from the plane. It was a feeling hard to explain in a single word. It was happiness, uncertainty about the unknown but also certainty that everything would be fine, it was nostalgia for leaving my comfort zone, but adrenaline to start from zero. It was the excitement to see the world in a second, but also seek to enjoy every moment to the fullest.
If you had ever traveled by yourself, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. If not, do it!! Is an experience that you can just live when you start a trip with yourself go for the adventure.
I remember that my first days walking around the city every detail inspired me. The people, colors, food, places, even the chaos of this beautiful city. EVERYTHING! Every day was a huge learning. Now, after a long way, I discovered that these, helped me to know me better. Something that couldn't happen in another place, I'm sure.
So now, I can say that there are certain things that you can only live in New York. Aspects that only this city will allow you to know about yourself. But the most important: things that only New York is gonna change in you. They say the people don't change but I disagree. I believe that we do, just to be better or to start again.
Today, I want to share with you all those secrets and experiences that only those who have lived in this city, known closely.
1.- Blair Waldorf said: "I love New York, you're never alone, but you're always by your own." And is completely TRUE. In New York you spend so much time with yourself that after a long period here, you will know what works or not with you.
2.- "A bad day in NYC is still better that a good day anywhere else." I remember that one day while I was at the subway, I saw a girl crying and I thought: "she probably have a VERY bad day, but, how's that possible here?" Months later, I was the girl at the train. The truth is that no matter how difficult the situation is, at the end, all of us that we still living here, is because we have a strong character. Which brings me to my next point...
3.- "Only In New York you'll live your feelings to the fullest" It can be your happiest day ever or the worst one, every feeling that goes through you, will be so clear and strong that will become the best teacher for what is coming.
4.- "Every day is a new beginning" Even when you try to have a routine, trust me, a day in the New York' streets will be so unpredictable and full of surprises, that when you arrive home, you will laugh of the funniest and craziest things you see here.
5.- "NYC will make you know your potential" The city that never sleeps will make you go out from your comfort zone everyday. Therefore you will know well those strengths that make you unique and work on them to be the best version of you. Which brings me to …
6.- "Only New York can give you a new world of possibilities" The city will never give you a no for an answer, even if your dreams are the craziest. The key is to know exactly what's the goal to achieve and you will find thousands of opportunities to make it happen.
7.- "Every sacrifice is worth it" The true is that living in NYC will make you sacrifice something. Change home with family for living alone, spend your money on rent instead of clothes or a trip, leave your Friday Nights with friends for a job, etc., but everything will be worth it when you realize that you're living your dreams.
8.- "Inspiration is in the air" Here we say that the one who gets bored here is because they want to. No matter what's your passion or job, New York will always have inspiration for the people, is all about open your eyes and mind.
